I sent the below to Debbie's daughter. Many of you started your softball careers around the same time. You were a Panda or played against us. Here's to Debbie!

Dear Lindsey,
My deepest condolences on your loss.
In 1971, a group of 9 and 10 yr old girls started their softball careers together. We were all first time sports girls. Back then, you didn’t start sports at 3 like kids do now. As you can see in one picture, our Mother’s actually made and hand stenciled our uniforms. I’m quite sure your Grandmother helped with Debbie’s. Your Mother’s willpower and determination were incredible. She really could hit the ball. We would all go nuts in the dugout when she got on base.  Fielding was always tough for her with her physical challenges, but she gave it her all and was such motivation for all of us. In other pictures, you can see we were the League Champs with a 15-0 record within 2 years of starting softball. That was a lot of practices and games and Debbie was right in the middle of all of it!
My youngest child is in nursing school at U of Arkansas. I’ve shared stories about Debbie and what grit she had to raise you kids and  become a Nurse.
I wish you and your sister long happy lives. You will get through all of these tough days ahead and May you learn of more of her feats through other long time friends.
