Donald Mayer VIEW PROFILE

Donald Walter Mayer, 66, of Lake Jackson, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 14, at Restwood Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 15, at Christ Lutheran Church in Lake Jackson. Rev. Paul Geisler, Jr. will be officiating.
Donald was born December 8, 1947 in Bay City, Texas to Walter Dave Mayer and Elizabeth Sherrer Mayer. He graduated from Bay City High School, received his Bachelor Degree from Texas A and I, and his Masters from Sam Houston State. He taught at Brazoswood High School for 36 years and was head of the Careers and Technology Department. He inspired his students to work hard and take pride in it. Donald also served many years as president of the Brazosport Teachers Federal Credit Union
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sister Barbara and her husband Steve Ray; nephew Doug and his wife Barbara Ray of Austin, TX and their children, Tyler, Dylan, and Spencer Ray; nephew Chris Ray of Dickinson, TX; soul mate of 26 years DeLois Young of Georgetown, TX; and numerous students whom he taught over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brazosport Regional Cancer Center or to the charity of your choice.
